Fall Benefit Raffle Rules

Official Raffle Rules and Disclaimer

Rush University Medical Center, including its Woman’s Board (collectively, “RUMC”), is an Illinois not-for-profit corporation that is exempt from tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. These Rules given the raffle, and, by purchasing a raffle ticket, you agree to be bound by these Rules.

You may purchase raffle tickets at the event or through www.thewomansboard.org. You may purchase one entry in our raffle for $100, three for $250 or five for $400. A limited number of entries are available.

Enter as often as you wish, but each entry must include an Official Entry Form.

Whim One for the Home Team(s) must be accepted immediately. For all other prizes, each winner must claim his/her prize(s) by September 30, 2019. If a prize is not claimed by this date, an alternative winner will be selected.

The winner is responsible for all taxes. In the event the winner’s prize has a fair market value in excess of $5,000, the winner must pay a withholding tax to The Woman’s Board of Rush University Medical Center in the amount of 25% of the fair market value of the prize minus the price of the winning raffle ticket.

No substitutions or cash redemptions of prizes are permitted. Prizes are non-transferable, non-extendable and subject to all restrictions on their availability.

Certain restrictions apply to travel packages.

Winner need not be present. All winners will be notified by mail following the Fall Benefit on September 6, 2019.

Void in New York, Florida, Vermont, Washington, Maryland, Puerto Rico and where prohibited by law.

Entrants must be 18 years or older as of January 1, 2019 and must be residents of the United States. RUMC and its directors, officers, employees, representatives, agents, parents and subsidiaries and affiliated entities (collectively, the “Released Parties”) are not responsible for printing, distribution, production or other errors that might affect the raffle, its operation, or its integrity, and may rescind, cancel or revoke this raffle based on such error and without liability by refunding all tickets purchased. Entry constitutes permission to use winners’ names and/or likenesses in any and all media or venues now or hereafter known in perpetuity for advertising and/or promotional purposes without further remuneration (except where prohibited by law). Each entrant, including each winner, agrees to release, indemnify and hold harmless Released Parties from and against any liability, claims, actions, losses or damages arising in any way from participation in or administration of this raffle or acceptance, failure to accept, receipt, ownership, use or misuse of any prize. Released Parties specifically disclaim all express or implied warranties, including, without limitation, warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose related to this raffle and/or any prize that is part of the raffle. To the extent that some provisions may not be applicable in whole or in part, the liability of the Released Parties shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law, including, where permitted, eliminated altogether.

Entrants agree that (1) under no circumstance will an entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, consequential or any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this raffle, but in no event attorneys’ fees. RUMC respects your privacy, and entrants’ information will not be used except by RUMC, and as otherwise provided by these Rules.

Raffle is subject to the laws of the State of Illinois. Any dispute in connection with these Rules or this raffle shall be resolved exclusively in state or federal courts in Chicago, Illinois. Entrants consent to jurisdiction in such courts.
